Centro de Psicologia Cultural It's a team of directors providing culturally and linguistically competent mental health and forensic service to families, adults, teenagers, and children offering consultation and training on how to create culturally and linguistically competent mental health agencies as well as providing culturally competent clinical supervision and training of interns.

Forensic services include serving cases from Worker Compensation, Social Service and Human Resource Agencies such as Welfare, Social Security Determination Services and Child Protective Services and cases from Immigration Criminal, Juvenile and Family Court

Consultation: Focus on increasing awareness and knowledge of the cultural considerations needed to provide effective, ethical and credible services to multicultural populations. It does Include: Assessment of organizational needs, technical assistance in development of mental health programs, Implementation of the cultural competency plan mandated by the State of California .

Training: The training tailors the agencies needs and addresses areas such as: Strategies to improve quality and access to mental health services, awareness of the benefits and limitations of interpretation and translation in mental health services as well as student and staff development, plus Community education.

... Cultural psychology ? Cultural Psychology regards psychological phenomena as originating in and reflecting cultural factors and processes. Emphasizes an emancipatory perspective. Promote political consciousness and Integrate disciplines and scientific methods.

Impact of cultural psychology in mental health services: Promotes cultural competence, Provides theoretical principles to understand discrimination, racism and incompetence in the delivery of mental health services, Maximize the exiting personal and community resources also generates activities to decrease disparity.

Disparity in mental health: Social patterns of inequality, economically driven and ideologically maintained, includes neglect, and indifference to justice and human rights of certain populations. The result of historical social artifacts of oppression such as racism, ethnic discrimination, sexism, and ageism.
